“Adam was beginning to realize that he hadn't known Ronan at all. Or rather, he had known part of him and assumed it was all of him.”

If you have not read the first two books in this series (The Raven Boys and The Dream Thieves) I suggest you read my review before picking them up, but the Raven Cycle is one of my favorite series. It is different from all the other paranormal fantasies I have read. It is much quirkier and pulls the reader in with its unique story line and plot full of suspense and twists. The series keeps you on your toes, never knowing what to expect which is a nice turn of event considering the usual stories with a similar plot, but in a different setting. Check out my reviews linked above for more of my opinions on this amazing series.

My beloved Gansey has returned to me! My I start out by saying that the cover is beautiful. I could not wait for this book to come out so I could display it on my shelves. It reminded me that Blue has short hair which I feel like is often forgotten by the fan base. All the fan art I have seen across the span of the interwebs is full of long-haired Blues which you forget is wrong.

This book was one of my most anticipated books of 2014. I fell in love with The Raven Boys so quickly that I could not wait to pick up the second book and the wait for the third was agonizing. This book did not disappoint in the slightest, with suspense and subtle romance between Blue and Gansey, BUT it did not satisfy all my needs. With the other two books I felt a need for more, for it left me hanging but in this it ended so abruptly I had no idea what is ahead. There was some foreshadowing in the epilogue, but not enough to please me.

As always, Maggie Stiefvater's writing is very hard to get into. Her writing is beautiful and flowing and she knows how to stretch out imagery into a paragraph or confine a character's thoughts into one beautifully written sentence. Her writing never fails to disappoint me and I find my self reaching for a highlighter more than I often do with books.

"Violence was a disease Gansey didn't think he could catch. But all around him, his friends were slowly infected."

This story has kept me in suspense since the first book. The journey these five take in order to find this 600 year old Welsh King is so beautiful and keeps you guessing. The story line is so random and never told before that it is almost refreshing. This book sneaks up on you. You might be thinking that it is going so slow but next thing you know you are on page 200 wondering where the time has gone by.

One of my favorite additions to this book that the others did not have much of was the humor especially from Mr. Jesse Dittley. The most random and obscure things would come out of his mouth and would actually make me laugh out loud. The group of boys are now becoming closer to Blue and begin to poke fun at her adding humor all around.

This book was amazing and wonderful, but overall my least favorite in the series thus far. Maybe my expictations were to high or what, but I was let down slightly. I waiting for the what I believe to be the last and final book to be realeased in maybe late 2015 early 2016.

Overall I give this book 4 out of 5 stars
Let me know what you guys think of it!

  2. I've been hesitant to read this. I love The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater, so maybe that's a good sign to give this a go too.

  4. Such a beautiful cover. Blue and green are my favorite colors. I know they say not to judge a book but I am guilty of it!
